A lunch offering to the yellowjackets that live on the University of Rochester Campus. Each fall, as students return to campus, yellowjacket traps are set that kill large numbers of the insect as a preventative measure. However, when some discovered the melon I was eating outside, I made a offering at the other side of the table, and we coexisted peacefully. 

 

Yellowjackets are the official mascot of the University of Rochester.
